Caloocan City — April 25, 2025 — A 45-year-old male, identified as a member of the Barangay 176-E Task Force, was apprehended late Wednesday night for illegal possession of a high-caliber firearm during a police patrol operation in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

At around 11:50 PM of April 24, 2025, alert personnel from Sub-Station 12 of the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS), under the leadership of Police Colonel Paul Jady D Doles, Chief of Police, were conducting foot patrol in Phase 9, Package 7, Barangay 176-E, when they were discreetly approached by a concerned citizen reporting a man openly carrying a firearm.

Acting swiftly on the tip, the officers, accompanied by informant, proceeded to the location. There, they spotted the suspect with the handle of a firearm visibly protruding from his belt bag. The officers immediately and cautiously approached the individual and placed him under arrest.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession was one (1) unit of Para-Ordnance high-capacity caliber .45 pistol with a magazine loaded with six (6) live rounds of ammunition. A camouflage balaclava was also found in his possession.

He will be face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Omnibus Election Code (BP 881), as the incident occurred during the election gun ban period.

This accomplishment underscores the effectiveness of the National Capital Region Police Office’s (NCRPO) AAA Strategy—Able, Active, and Allied—a holistic approach to reducing crime and combating illegal activities. By enhancing personnel capabilities, conducting proactive operations, and strengthening community ties, NCRPO remains committed to promoting public safety and crime prevention across Metro Manila under the leadership of Police Major General Anthony A Aberin, Regional Director of NCRPO.

Police Brigadier General Josefino D Ligan, District Director of the Northern Police District (NPD), lauded the swift and decisive action of the Caloocan City Police Station, emphasizing that such dedication reflects the NPD’s continuing mission to protect communities and uphold the law.

“Ang ganitong mabilis at matapang na tugon mula sa ating kapulisan ay patunay na seryoso tayo sa laban kontra iligal na aktibidad. Ang ating komunidad ay mas ligtas dahil sa kanilang dedikasyon,” PBGEN Ligan said.

This arrest marks another step forward in ensuring a safer and more secure environment for all, especially during this critical election period.
