Caloocan City — A 27-year-old male resident of Barangay 185, Caloocan City, alias “Tenga”, was arrested by operatives of Tala Police Sub-station 14 in the early hours of May 18, 2025, for violation of R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Batas Pambansa Blg. 881 (Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines).
At around 1:00 AM, police responded to a telephone report from a concerned citizen regarding a suspicious individual with a firearm visible on his person. The suspect, described as wearing a white sleeveless hoodie and red shorts with markings, was spotted along Gumamela Street, Barangay 185.
Personnel identified the male fitting the report and observed him holding a firearm in plain view. When confronted, the suspect attempted to dispose of the weapon by throwing it onto the sidewalk. Quick action by responding officers led to the suspect’s immediate arrest and the confiscation of a caliber .38 revolver loaded with two live rounds. The firearm bore no serial number, and the suspect failed to produce any legal documents for its possession.
Alias “Tenga” is now under police custody pending inquest proceedings.
Police Brigadier General Josefino D Ligan, District Director of the Northern Police District (NPD), commended the swift response and professionalism of the arresting officers, stating, “This operation reflects the dedication of our men in uniform and underscores our relentless campaign against illegal firearms, especially during the election period.”
He added that such proactive operations are vital in maintaining peace and order within the NPD’s area of responsibility.
