Valenzuela City — In a timely and coordinated police operation, personnel from the Paso De Blas Police Sub-Station (SS-6) arrested two male individuals at around 3:10 AM on May 24, 2025, for their involvement in illegal gambling activities, with one of them also facing charges for illegal possession of a firearm during the election period.

Police operatives responded to a tip from a concerned citizen regarding a suspected illegal gambling activity beside House No. 35 D. Santiago Street, Barangay Malanday. Upon arrival, the team caught the suspects red-handed in the act of playing and betting on “Cara y Cruz,” a coin-based street gambling game.

The suspects, identified as alias Jordan 21-year-old unemployed male and alias Mark a 23-year-old construction worker, were immediately taken into custody. Confiscated from the scene were three one-peso coins used as flippers and bet money amounting to Php 250.00 in mixed denominations.

Further search incident to arrest revealed a major violation: alias Jordan, was found in possession of a Smith & Wesson caliber .38 revolver without a serial number, loaded with three live rounds. The individual failed to present any valid documents for the firearm. The incident becomes even more alarming as it constitutes a violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to Batas Pambansa Bilang 881 (Omnibus Election Code), considering the current election-related activities.

A Criminal complaints are being prepared against them. Alias Jordan will face multiple charges including Violation of PD 1602 and R.A. 10591 in relation to BP 881, while alias Mark will be charged for illegal gambling under PD 1602.

Police Brigadier General Josefino D Ligan, District Director of the Northern Police District (NPD), commended the quick response and professionalism and stated: “This arrest highlights the vigilance and swift action of our personnel. Proactive measures like this are essential in preserving peace and order, especially during sensitive electoral periods,” PBGEN Ligan stated.
