Caloocan City — A 25-year-old male suspect, known by the alias “Buyboy”, was arrested late evening of May 11, 2025, for illegal possession of an improvised firearm along Torcillo Street, Barangay 28, Caloocan City.

At around 11:40 PM, operatives conducting patrol operations onboard their service vehicle as part of surveillance and casing activities related to vote-buying noticed the suspect holding what appeared to be a firearm. Upon approach, the suspect was caught off guard and voluntarily showed the item—an improvised firearm, locally known as a “pengun”, loaded with one live ammunition for caliber .45.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest and later brought to the Caloocan City Medical Center for medical and physical examination. He was then turned over to the concerned police unit at around 12:10 AM of May 12 for documentation and filing of appropriate charges for Violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.

This accomplishment underscores the effectiveness of NCRPO’s AAA Strategy—Able, Active, and Allied—a holistic approach to reducing crime and combating illegal activities. By enhancing skills, proactive operations, and building strong community partnerships, NCRPO ensures seamless efforts to prevent crime and promote safer neighborhoods across Metro Manila, under the leadership of Police Major General Anthony A Aberin, Regional Director, NCRPO.

Police Brigadier General Josefino D Ligan, District Director of the Northern Police District, commended the Caloocan City Police Station for their swift action and continued dedication in maintaining public safety during the critical election period.
