Caloocan City – In a decisive law enforcement operation aimed at curbing illegal firearms possession, Northern Police District (NPD) operatives successfully implemented a Search Warrant, leading to the arrest of a 35-year-old male resident of Barangay 167, Caloocan City, for violation of Section 28 of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. This operation underscores the NPD’s commitment to disarming criminals and ensuring public safety.

The operation commenced on March 28, 2025, at approximately 10:50 PM and concluded by 11:50 PM, with the suspect being brought to the police station at approximately 12:10 AM on March 29, 2025. The search was meticulously carried out by personnel from the Llano Police Sub-Station (SS-7) of the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS), under the leadership of PCOL Edcille V Canals, Chief of Police, in coordination with relevant authorities. The warrant, authorizing the search of the suspect’s residence, was issued by Hon. Rosalia I. Hipolito-Bunagan, 2nd Vice Executive Judge of RTC, Branch 232, Caloocan City, dated March 27, 2025.

During the search, law enforcement officers adhered to strict protocols, including the use of a PNP-issued body-worn camera to ensure transparency and accountability. The search yielded a significant find: a caliber .38 revolver without a serial number, loaded with four (4) live rounds of ammunition, concealed inside a pink plastic drawer. The suspect was unable to present any legal documents authorizing his possession of the firearm, leading to his immediate arrest.

The seized firearm and ammunition, considered crucial evidence in the case, were properly marked and inventoried on-site in the presence of a barangay official and a media representative. This meticulous documentation process further reinforces the integrity of the operation and ensures a strong case for prosecution. The suspect is currently under police custody and will face appropriate charges related to the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

This accomplishment highlights the effectiveness of the NCRPO’s AAA Strategy—Able, Active, and Allied—a holistic approach to crime reduction and the fight against illegal activities. Through enhanced police skills, proactive operations, and strong community partnerships, the NCRPO, under the leadership of PBGEN Anthony A Aberin, Acting Regional Director, remains steadfast in ensuring a safer Metro Manila. The successful implementation of the search warrant and the subsequent arrest serve as a clear warning to those who possess illegal firearms: law enforcement is vigilant, and impunity will not be tolerated.

PCOL Josefino D Ligan, Acting District Director of the Northern Police District (NPD), commended the Caloocan City Police Station operatives for their meticulous planning and flawless execution of the search warrant. He reaffirmed NPD’s relentless efforts in tracking down wanted individuals and those who possess illegal firearms, ensuring peace and security across the CAMANAVA area, and sending a strong message that no one is beyond the reach of the law.
