Caloocan City – May 22, 2025 — A successful buy-bust operation conducted by the Intelligence Section of Caloocan City Police Station led to the arrest of two suspected members of the notorious Criminal Gang for violation of Section 32 of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Arrested were “Ate”, a 41-year-old female, and “Hunasan”, a 34-year-old male, both residents of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City. The suspects conspired in an illegal firearms transaction involving a caliber .38 revolver without serial number and three (3) live ammunition.

The operation, executed around 9:00 PM at Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City and reported to the Intelligence Section at approximately 10:50 PM of the same date, was made possible under the leadership of PCOL Paul Jady D Doles, Chief of Police, Caloocan City Police Station.

One of the arresting officers, acted as poseur buyer in the entrapment operation, which involved a transaction amount of Php2,500.00. Marked buy-bust money—consisting of a genuine Php500 bill (Serial No. AV9428042) and two counterfeit Php1000 bills (Serial Nos. NE560590)—was used in the transaction.

The illegal firearm and ammunition were seized from “Hunasan,” while the marked money was recovered from “Ate.” The suspects were brought to Caloocan City Medical Center for medical examination before being turned over to the Intelligence Section for documentation and further investigation. They will be facing inquest proceedings before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.

Police Brigadier General Josefino D Ligan, District Director of the Northern Police District (NPD), lauded the efforts of the operating team and emphasized the importance of timely law enforcement operations, especially in maintaining peace and order in urban communities.

“This arrest highlights the vigilance and swift action of our personnel. Proactive measures like this are essential in preserving peace and order, especially during sensitive electoral periods,” PBGEN Ligan said.

This successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of the NCRPO’s AAA Strategy—Advanced operational skills, Active law enforcement, and Alliance-building with communities—in ensuring public safety and preventing crime. Under the visionary leadership of Police Major General Anthony A Aberin, Regional Director of the NCRPO, the Philippine National Police remains steadfast in upholding peace, security, and justice across Metro Manila.
